Software Engineering

THE ROLE

The Software Engineering Lead is an ideal role for the senior software technologist who aspires to become a Director/VP of Engineering. It is a blend of hands-on software and architecture work, along with the responsibilities for growing and leading a high-performing engineering team. Optimism, energy, and creativity are a must, as are the ability to communicate and collaborate.

As the Software Engineering Lead, you will work with other engineers and product managers to ensure the timely delivery of easy to use, reliable, secure, and resilient software to support the Senseware IoT solution. You will also be responsible for growing and leading the engineering team and will serve as a trusted advisor to our executive management.

The Software Engineering Lead reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities for the Software Engineering Lead include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Write easy to use, reliable, secure, and resilient software
  • Develop/reinforce sound software development practices for the team
  • Ensure that architectural tenets are followed/refined
  • Design, refine, develop, and manage our Amazon Web Services (AWS) computing environment
  • Grow and lead a high-performing engineering team in a culture of trust, transparency, and accountability
  • Together with the CTO, drive the technical vision for the products

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or verifiable equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing modern commercial quality software products; at least 1 year of management experience is desirable
  • Full stack experience with expert understanding of JavaScript and Node.js as well as SQL and relational database design
  • Deep understanding of Linux along with modern open source and commercial software development tools/practices (GitHub, Jira, containers, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Comprehensive understanding of Amazon Web Services and how to develop/deploy cloud native software
  • Start-up experience is a plus
  • Experience with real time systems and data is a plus
  • Data science experience is a plus

Operations

We are looking for a Customer Success Specialist who will:

• Help implement and refine a customer service strategy to ensure the highest satisfaction for customers and clients
• Be responsible for developing customer relationships that promote retention and loyalty
• Work closely with customers to ensure they are satisfied with the services they receive and to improve upon areas of dissatisfaction
• Take ownership of day-to-day interactions between Senseware and its users

We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer who will:

  • Sell complex scientific and technological products and services to businesses
  • Acquire extensive knowledge of Senseware’s product parts and functions and understand the scientific processes that make Senseware products work
  • Use technical skills to explain the benefits of our products or services to potential customers and show how our products and services are better than competitors’ products.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining our products or services to customers and prospective customers and how we solve the customer problem
  • Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support
  • Secure and renew orders and arrange delivery
  • Ask for technical requirements from customers and modify and adjust products to meet customers’ specific needs.
  • Help clients solve problems with installed equipment
  • Recommend improved materials or machinery to customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production
  • Work with research and development (R&D) departments to help identify and develop new products

We are looking for an Account Executive with at least 5-10 years of successful sales experience to manage the closing functions of our sales funnel, as well as maintain a target of strategic accounts. The ideal AE will polished, organized, hardworking, and possess an innate ability to relate value, understand customer business objectives and dig deep to uncover customer challenges from a consultative sales approach.

The AE takes full personal ownership of all activity and quota attainment and will formulate an account plan for strategic accounts while managing a full pipeline of opportunities produced by our high-performance Sales Development team. Other responsibilities include:

  • Establish contact with prospects and qualify potential buyers scheduling sales calls, following up on leads and utilizing outlined marketing strategies.
  • Determine customer needs and develop a sales strategy to gain customer understanding of Senseware offerings.
  • Close sufficient sales to exceed sales plan objectives.

The AE will report directly to the Director of Sales. About You

  • Knowledge of building mechanical and electrical equipment functions and use, HVAC system control applications, control system hardware and software products.
  • Knowledge of standard building automation system communication network protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and LON.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related discipline strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive sales experience.
